Yes, you are hearing from me again - albeit a rather shortened report for the week!

Ronda arrived back in Johannesburg all eager to get back into the swing of things, but unfortunately she came down with a dreadful tummy bug and our plans for the week had to change.  So, Ronda concentrated on getting better (which I am pleased to report she is!!!!!) and sadly we had to postpone the distribution that was planned for Wednesday.  Hopefully we will be able to go to Evaton, in Soweto, this week and we will be able to report back to you again soon.

We had another full office of volunteers on Thursday and were thrilled to receive a mountain of mail from all of you wonderful contributors.  We even opened a parcel from Thailand on Thursday which was very exciting.

Please enjoy the photos taken at last week’s “Opening Day” – we hope you are able to spot something you sent:

With 15 volunteers on the day, we managed to open and document all the parcels we received last week and we had time to spare.  So, the the volunteers took on a new challenge – sewing together blankets.  For many, this was a first, but it did not take long before everyone was sewing away happily.

Our American volunteers helping sew together blankets!

We hope you enjoy your week and look forward to posting a more detailed report and photos later this week.

  • Glad to know Ronda is back and on the mend, although she couldn't have had a better stand-in, Wendy.  You've done a great job in her stead!  We've enjoyed your reports and photos!

  • Thanks, Wendy for the report. When you're across the globe from knit a square, any information makes it feel more real! Thanks again, :).

  • I love your reports, whether long or short.  It just helps so much to understand what happens to our squares once they arrive in South Africa.  Every report is a thrill to read.  Thank you.
