African Designs

I came across a book at the library called Knitting Out of Africa by Marianne Isager. I wanted to share the images of her sweater designs (but not the patterns) - see attached PDF below. What I have noticed is that the designs are very geometric. Those more experienced knitters out there could always try to adapt a pattern from these images. I know as a crocheter, I'm looking forward to doing just that. Perhaps you could even track down this beautiful book. What gorgeous squares we could make! Andrea :o)

  • I've seen this book and never thought to adapt it to squares. Doh! I think I must need a vacation. Thanks for the nudge.
  • WOW. Those are amazing and very beautiful sweaters. Most public libraries would either have this book or maybe be able to get it for you via an Inter Library Loan. In North America libraries will ship books to each other when a client needs one for a 2-3 week loan period. I've gotten books from New York City and Texas libraries when I was hunting something down. It's worth a try and for us here in Canada at least, it's a free service. :)
  • Beautiful - and I love the use of color!!
  • Thanks Andrea. The patterns will be fun to adapt.
